What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and therapy. Hypnosis is the process of inducing a trance and therapy is the process of addressing and overcoming our problems by changing the way we think and behave.

A trance is a very relaxed, daydream-like state and most people experience trances quite naturally in their everyday life, for example when absorbed in a book or day-dreaming while carrying out a repetitive task.

Hypnotherapy is a joint venture between you and I, rather than something I 'do to you'.

No hypnotherapist can make guarantees but with your commitment and a genuine want to change, hypnotherapy is suitable for most people, most of the time and for most issues.

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

In a normal, non-trance state, we think with our rational, conscious minds and are aware of ourselves and our thoughts. However, when we are hypnotised into a trance state, the unconscious mind can be accessed. This is the part of our mind which controls our habits, irrational thoughts, impulses and some illnesses. A few examples of this are smoking, overeating, phobias, anxiety, nerves, confidence, pain, stress and high blood pressure.

So, when I have guided you into a wonderfully relaxing trance state, I then give suggestions to your unconscious mind which is highly focused and receptive. This enables therapy to take place at a deep and lasting level, changing unwanted habits, emotions, negative thoughts and undesirable behaviours.

You are in complete control at all times and can choose to come out of hypnosis whenever you wish.

What is the Process of Hypnotherapy?

To begin with I offer a FREE, confidential, no-obligation telephone consultation so you are assured hypnotherapy is right for you.

Next we book your initial session. This lasts about an hour and includes an assessment to enable me to get to know more about your issue, agree your goals and and form a plan of action for future sessions which is tailored to your specific requirements. Following the asessment we get started on your treatment straight away and you can experience relaxing, calming hypnosis.

MOST PEOPLE BEGIN TO FEEL THE BENEFITS OF HYPNOTHERAPY AFTER JUST ONE SESSION.

The number of sessions required depends on the nature and complexity of the issue(s) and each session lasts 1 hour. Together we review your progress at the beginning of each session, so we can agree when is the best time to end the course of therapy.

Other Therapies

In addition to Hypnotherapy, I incorporate other techniques and approaches which I am trained to use:-

  • NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
  • CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy)
  • Client-Centred Therapy
  • Goal-Orientated Therapy
  • Timeline Therapy
  • IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy)
  • Psychotherapeutic Analysis

This ensures all my clients receive therapy which is most beneficial and effective for their individual requirements.
